SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. -

Officers arrived at 1277 Shipley Ferry Road after reports of shots fired.

Leslie Earhart with the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office said, "Upon arrival officers found one person with shots to the stomach who appeared to be alert and responsive when transported to Holston Valley Hospital."

The shooting happened in a mobile home park around 9:30 Wednesday night.

Officers believe it was a dispute between landlord and tenant.

The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office says the tenant was shot in the stomach by his landlord.

Earhart added, "The shooter is actually the one who called 911. He briefly ran into the woods but dispatchers was able to convince him to leave the gun in the woods and come back out.”

Several neighbors witnessed the shooting, which is playing a role in the investigation.

“Detectives  are in the process of trying to gather all of the information and facts so there is still a lot to figure out right now,” Earhart said.

The landlord was not injured and the investigation continues.
