BRISTOL, Tenn. -

A stroke can hit at any age, but doctors say victims are getting younger simply because it's better diagnosed.

News 5 caught up with Doctor Earl Wilson, a neurologist, and learned women usually suffer strokes between 25 to 35-years-old because of childbirth. While trauma causes strokes in young men 30 to 50-years-old.

Doctor Wilson says age is beneficial when it comes to survival, "Young people have an amazing ability to recover, and that's the best thing about treating young people. They are stronger, more resilient."

We've also learned time is the most critical factor in saving brain tissue for both young and old stroke victims.
