Spring leaf collection begins in Johnson City
Johnson City street crews were out in force Monday picking up leaves.
The crews started collecting leaves in different neighborhoods all across the city. Residents are asked to not pile up leaves in the street. Officials say that has been one of the biggest problems so far.
"People need to bring them to the curb," says Johnson City Street Department Supervisor Dean Minier. "Have no debris, block, brick, any of that kind of debris in it. Sticks also cause problems with the leaf machine."
Johnson City residents have two weeks to get leaves collected. The leaves will be recycled and turned into mulch.
