Smyth County Schools wants help in redistricting
The Smyth County school board has made a few changes.
We've learned they are working on redistricting the town to divide more than 800 Pre-K through fifth-grade students between two schools.
They are currently building Oak Point Elementary and renovating Marion Primary.
Assistant superintendent Jeffery Cassell tells News 5 they currently have two options, but are open to suggestions. "It may be that the board chooses one of those options or it could even make a few amendments to the current options before we actually come up with a final attendance area for each of the schools," he said.
Here's a link for detailed information about the two proposals.
The Smyth County School Board invited the public to come out Monday night and share their thoughts before a decision is made.
