The call came into Skyline Highway in Galax just before 11:00 Tuesday night.

Deputy Waller and Deputy Kevin Watson went to the home and when they knocked on the door, authorities say Waller was shot in the lower abdomen.

Deputy Watson returned fire and they say the two suspects came out of the home with their hands raised within a couple of minutes.

Crystal Gooslin-Wheatley, 47-years-old, was also arrested for having ammunition and being a convicted felon.

Both are in the New River Valley Jail in Dublin, Virginia without bond.

Authorities tell us Deputy Waller was wearing a bullet proof vest which actually turned to bullet down into his pelvis.
