Update, 10/31 11:20 a.m.: The shelters in Buchanan County have now been closed.

Due to the power outages in southwest Virginia, some shelters are opening across our region.

In Buchanan County, Virginia, shelters are open at Riverview School just outside of Grundy and at Twin Valley High School up on Pilgrim's Knob.

In Russell County, emergency management has opened a shelter at Green Valley Baptist Church in Lebanon.

There is also a shelter open at the Richlands Police Department in Tazewell County.
