Prosecutors were seeking the forfeiture of several ambulances and other emergency equipment, along with $330,000, from the Saltville Rescue Squad. This after a federal jury convicted the former squad president last September on healthcare fraud and perjury charges.

The jury acquitted the squad as a corporation in the case.

A federal judge ruled the property cannot be seized because there's no way of knowing if the assets were bought with proceeds from the fraudulent billing scheme.
