Residents served by eight east Tennessee post offices are being surveyed.

The United States Postal Service needs to make cuts and they're giving customers two options.

The first is to keep their rural post office open with reduced hours.

The second, is for the postal service to study closing the office and doing delivery service or have a contracted P.O. Box site.

Post offices affected are in Butler, Flag Pond, Watauga, Unicoi, Telford, Milligan, Shady Valley and Trade.

Surveys are out until December 26th. Results will be announced January 9th.
