Robert Gleason, Jr. executed
Robert Gleason Junior's long fight to be executed in Virginia is over.
He died in the electric chair around 9:00 Wednesday night. We're told Gleason made the decision to die in the electric chair.
Gleason was serving life in prison after he was convicted of a 2007 murder when authorities say he killed his cellmate at Wallen's Ridge State Prison in Big Stone Gap in 2009. They say he strangled another inmate at Red Onion State Prison, also in Wise County, Virginia, in 2010.
We spoke with Wise County Commonwealth's Attorney Ron Elkins and he told us he was glad to have some closure for the families involved.
