Remains found in Carter County identified

Breaking news out of Carter County -- we learned Friday evening that Sheriff Chris Mathes has confirmed through dental records whose remains were found off the side of Gap Creek Road. Click here to read previous coverage about this story.

Sheriff Mathes says they have identified the remains as those of Zane Baxter Gervin II. They found Gervin's wallet and identification at the scene.

Both Carter County authorities and anthropologists at UT-Knoxville continue to sort through the evidence they've collected.
