BRISTOL, Tenn. -

We’re a little more than a month away from the night race at Bristol Motor Speedway. In the months leading up to the race, many people are talking about the changes being made to the track.

But there are also some changes being made outside the track too, and it could benefit some local residents.

The Bledsoe family is setting up camp, a summer get-away. They enjoy spending time outdoors, but not too outdoors. "Not in a tent for sure, we don't do that anymore. We've been there, done that," says Laura Bledsoe.

Bledsoe says she enjoys camping but with some of the luxuries of home. “We have a bedroom, a shower and air-conditioning. We have heat in the winter and we have a nice bed to sleep in," she explained.

These are some of the very reasons Bristol Motor Speedway is now offering RVs for rent. They’re hoping to make more room for fans to spend the night.

"In this general area we only have 7,000 hotel rooms. There are only so many spots for people to lay their heads down at night," says BMS General Manager Jerry Caldwell.

New for this August, BMS will be renting RVs. It's a new idea they're hoping takes off.

"This will be handled the same way the house rentals are. The folks renting the RV will sign a contract, put down a security deposit,” adds Caldwell.

BMS admits they're not sure how many fans will take them up on the RV rentals, but they do expect the program to grow. "We do deal with some folks in northern states, colder states that have to de-winterize their RV. They come down here and then maybe still have some winter weather when they get back up north,” says Caldwell.

The rentals are being handled by Race Lodging. You can get more information at racelodging.com.
