Police warn holiday shoppers after rash of car burglaries
Police are warning holiday shoppers after a rash of car break-ins.
Kingsport Police say surveillance video from outside the Johnny Brusco's Restaurant on North Eastman Road shows the suspect rummaging through and stealing things from at least one car on December 7.
Detectives tell News 5 car break-ins have increased in the last couple of weeks inside city limits, and they want to make sure you don't become a victim.
"I would definitely put things out of sight, put packages in the trunk," says Kingsport Police Sergeant Chris Tincher. "Purses, et cetera, carry with you if you can. If you can't, place them in the trunk or in an area where someone can't see it."
Tincher also wants to remind people that leaving your car doors unlocked makes you an easy target.
