Kingsport Police say someone is breaking into area fast food restaurants and stealing money.

Police say between June and September, seven break-ins have occurred at different places like Pizza Hut, Hardees and Subway in Kingsport, Johnson City and Mount Carmel. 
Police say safes have been stolen at some businesses, while at others, the safes have been broken into, with money taken.

"The incident occurs shortly after closing," says Martin Taylor, with the Kingsport Police Department.  "It's done that way because if you wait till later or early on in the morning there should not be a reason why someone would be at that business.  Right around closing time or shortly thereafter if someone was to see a vehicle they might think this store is just closing down."
