JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -

Johnson City Police are trying to figure out why someone would fire a gun at a parked car.

Police tell News 5 it happened just before two Saturday morning at a parking lot on Cherry Street.

News 5 learned one person fired shots into a car with two people sitting inside. Lieutenant Scott Jenkins says investigators found six different bullet holes.

"There's no evidence to believe at this time that this was a random incident. All indicators are pointing to a situation where an altercation happened earlier in the evening between at least two of the subjects involved," added Lieutenant Jenkins.

News 5 also learned both people in the car suffered minor injuries from the windshield shattering.
