Police are looking for a man they said broke into his girlfriend’s grandfather’s safe and stole $36,000.

According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, 18-year old Tyler David Bolton is wanted on theft and vandalism charges.

The police report states Bolton’s girlfriend was house-sitting for her grandfather while he was at the hospital with his wife.

Police said when she fell asleep, Bolton broke into the grandfather’s locked bedroom and safe.

The report states when she woke up, Bolton was gone. When her grandfather came home, he realized the bedroom door was open and the cash was gone.

The girlfriend met up with Bolton later on Austin Street in Greeneville and got into an argument. Bolton threw $10,800 in cash at her and stated that’s all he had left and drove off.

Anyone with information about Bolton is asked to call the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.
