Police: Suspect threatens mom with possible explosive
UPDATE 5:00 p.m.--- Sullivan County deputies responded to a home near Colonial Heights after a victim said her son threatened to blow up the home while holding what appeared to be an explosive device.
Public information officer Leslie Earhart told us 20-year-old Dillon Turnmire left the home.
Kingsport police tell us the suspect was stopped on John B. Dennis Highway near Stone Drive and arrested on unrelated charges, including possession of marijuana.
Kingsport and Johnson City bomb squads helped search the home where officials said three possible explosive devices were found.
Turnmire is charged with three counts of aggravated domestic assault, along with other charges.
Sullivan county deputies were called out to a home on Blue Haven Drive this morning. Public information officer Leslie Earhart said when deputies got there, a suspect threatened to kill his mother and her two daughters.
Officials said at the time the threat was made, the suspect has holding what appeared to be an explosive device.
The suspect left the home, and was spotted by Kingsport police after a BOLO was issued.
The suspect was arrested.
The Kingsport Bomb Squad and Johnson City Bomb Squad respond to assist in the investigation. When searching the home, officials said three possible explosives were found.
