Help is on the way for homeowners in some rural areas of Virginia who are in need of assistance when it comes to their water well systems.
The US Department of Agricultural Rural Development awarded Abingdon-based People Incorporated with a more than $180,000 grant to help families struggling with access to safe drinking water.
The organization says the money will be used to set up a revolving fund to provide low-interest loans for low-to-middle income homeowners.
Those loans will be accessible to homeowners in Buchanan, Dickenson, Russell and Washington counties, as well as the City of Bristol, Virginia.
