November mine inspection figures released

The numbers are in and federal mining regulators issued 285 citations during November inspections.

MSHA also said it issued 11 orders after inspections at nine coal mines and seven other mines.

Seven of those were at a mine in Letcher County, Kentucky. Authorities say TRC Mining Corporation #2 Mine failed to follow the ventilation plan. Orders closed the underground part of the mine.

These inspections began in 2010 after the explosion at Upper Big Branch Mine in West Virginia that killed 29 miners.
