No state insurance exchange for Tennessee

Tennessee will not create a state-run health insurance exchange. Governor Bill Haslam made that announcement Monday afternoon.

The exchanges, which are part of the federal health care overhaul, create new online markets where consumers can buy individual private health insurance coverage.

Governor Haslam says he remains undecided about whether to expand Medicaid.

The governor says a decision on that expansion may not come until after the legislature adjourns this spring.
