BRISTOL, Virginia -

Everyone has a story, but after you're gone, does your story go with you?

There is a new website that helps you document your life story, while allowing family members down the road to read it.

The founder, Susie Walling, said My Lasting Legacy shows her past, present and future. "I uploaded a picture of my grandmother with her four sisters from Poland, before they came to the United States," she said. Walling explained why putting the picture online, it brought her tears. "This is the legacy I want to leave my children. I want to piece together where they have come from."

The website allows people to write their own life story. Walling said if everyone could see their life on a page, it may change the way they think. "If you have the chance to reflect on your own life you can see the goal, see where you've come from and where you plan to go."

She said it wasn't easy starting mylastinglegacy.com because there are so many other social media websites to compete against. Walling said she couldn't focus on the ending result, but just took it one step at a time, relying on divine guidance. "My Lasting Legacy came about because of perseverance, compassion, empathy and a higher good that I wanted to help people live a better life," said Walling.

She hopes people will use it for generations to come so no story is ever forgotten.
