A new mine drainage treatment may be able to help clean wastewater.
Scientists from the U.S. Geological Survey say dried mine drainage sludge could be used as a low-cost absorbent to remove phosphorus from water.
Officials say the new technology can help lower mine drainage costs, prevent the degrading of aquatic ecosystems and recycle valuable nutrients.
