A few major improvements are headed our way after the unveiling of a new store that will be the selling point for a new development. The Pinnacle, as the development will be called, is going to be located on highway 11-W in Bristol, TN.
Many people travel outside of Bristol to go shopping.
"We go to Johnson City some," said Karen Rohr.
"We were in Atlanta this weekend," said David Hyde.
David and Andrea Hyde say they feel like Bristol is lacking in the retail department. "Retail wise, yes. You don't have the name brand stores that the other, larger cities have."
Therefore, Johnson and Associates is working to fix that with a 1.3 million square foot development that Steve Johnson hopes will bring in more people. "Our whole trade area for a project of this magnitude is about 3.5 million people."
Johnson also says it will bring in lots of new things to our area. "New retail, new dining, new levels of lodging and the entertainment component with the 7,000 seat amphitheater, a place to go and enjoy all kinds of genres of music."
The biggest store unveiled so far is the Bass Pro Shop. "Fortunately at about 5 o'clock today we inked it. It is done and done," said David Johnson, developer at Johnson and Associates.
The project also has some locals excited.
"I'm real excited about that,” said David Hyde.
“I love Bass Pro Shop,” said Andrea Hyde.
“Most everywhere we go we always make a stop at Bass Pro Shop," said David.
Johnson says the whole process was worth the fight. "It's been a long hard battle. There has been no secret that there has been a lot of competition in the region to land the big fish."
Locals say they are thrilled about the new development.
"Anything that grows Bristol, I'm in favor of. I love Bristol, it's a great place," said Errol Rohr.
The estimated time of completion for The Pinnacle in Bristol, Tennessee is winter of 2013 or spring of 2014.
We also discovered this is only one part of the project; they also plan to extend the Pinnacle into Washington County.
