Three people lost their lives in three separate crashes.

The crashes have been spread across several different counties in east Tennessee.

The most recent happened just before four Sunday morning in Washington County, Tennessee, on Old State Route 34.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol says speed and alcohol were likely factors in the crash.

Troopers say 22-year-old Michael Whaley of Jonesborough died. THP reports Whaley lost control in a curve, and was thrown from the car.

And in Johnson County, two people died in a crash early Sunday morning. That happened just before midnight Sunday on Highway 67 in Mountain City, Tennessee.

A car driven by 22-year-old Christopher Proffitt crossed the double yellow line, hitting an oncoming car head on. Proffitt and the passenger, 24-year-old Shana Vanover died in the wreck.

Two people in the other car were injured. THP has not released any information about the injuries.
