JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -

Negotiations continue between a local healthcare system and a major insurance company.

The talks have now been extended while the two sides try to come to an agreement.

Mountain States Health Alliance's contract with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee is set to expire in June.  Without an agreement for a new contract, Mountain States officials asked the insurance company for a 90-day extension.

We learned this morning that Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee agreed to a 30-day contract extension.

That means Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee customers can still access in-network care at Mountain States facilities through June.
