Wednesday's storms quickly caused high water on the roads and flooding in Greene County.
The road department spent the afternoon and evening going out on calls to survey the raising water levels in the area creeks and on the roadways.
The road superintendent, David Weems, said most of the flooding comes from small creeks and he expected it to recede quickly.
"They usually flood in these downpours, especially when we get this amount of rain in a short period of time. The banks aren't large enough to handle that much water so we expect some short term flooding."
Drivers are reminded not to cross flooded roads and to obey all posted signs and barricades.
