According to the CDC, 14 people have now died and 169 others have developed a rare fungal meningitis linked to contaminated steroid injections as of Thursday evening.
The CDC also increased their estimate of the total number of patients exposed to the tainted medication at 14,000. The number of infection cases is expected to grow in the coming weeks as there is an incubation period for meningitis.
We've learned another pharmacy called Ameridose is closing. Reports say Ameridose and the New England Compounding Pharmacy are owned and operated by the same people.
There is no indication any of the medications produced by Ameridose were compromised.
