BRISTOL, Tenn. -

The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission has elected a new chairman and he's from our region.

The commission has nominated Bristol dentist Jeff McMillin. He has served on the commission for more than four years and was appointed to the commission by Lieutenant Governor Ron Ramsey in 2009.

McMillin told News 5 getting more youth involved is his goal. He said he brought archery into Bristol, Tennessee schools and has worked to change season settings to help get more young people involved in nature. "I'm hoping that will stimulate a lot of kids to get outdoors and get off the electronics we're so accustomed to see them on," said McMillin.

The commission works with state lawmakers to provide direction and oversight to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.
