A Johnson City man lead police on a chase and hit a deputy with his car Thursday afternoon.
UPDATE: Damien Christopher Slocum, 27 of Johnson City, is charged with aggravated assault and driving on revoked license.
A Carter County deputy pulled Slocum over for a routine traffic stop when he got back into this car and backed over the deputy.
He lead police on a chase into Washington County, Tennessee where he was arrested on Ed Martin Road.
Sheriff Chris Mathes said the chase was an accident waiting to happen. "It really got dangerous. There's a lot of traffic on 36 and all the road construction and a lot of people working. It never was a major high speed chase, but it was a pursuit. We're fortunate it all ended safely."
Mathes said Slocum appeared to be intoxicated.
The deputy was taken to the hospital with a mild leg injury.
