Man arrested after standoff

We've learned from the Washington County, Virginia sheriff that they arrested a suspect around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday after a brief stand-off.

It happened on Bucks Bridge Road.

Sheriff Newman tells us the suspect is 22-year-old Dalton Wampler from Abingdon, Virignia and he's charged with strangulation, abduction, and malicious wounding.

The sheriff says there were local warrants out for his arrest and they had been looking for him for several weeks.

Wampler was taken to the regional jail.
