SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. -

A Bristol, Tennessee man is in jail charged with stealing his grandmother's jewelry.

The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office told us Nicholas Bowman is suspected of stealing over $500 worth of jewelry on two different occasions.

Police said one of the reports state Bowman broke into her home on Ridgemont Street in Bristol to get the jewelry.

Police said detectives investigated the case and believe Bowman then sold the jewelry at Gold Buyers on Volunteer Parkway and Southern Gold Traders in Bristol, Virginia.

"He also had outstanding warrants out of Bristol, Tennessee for identity theft. Detectives brought him back here for questioning. He admitted to stealing the jewelry. Basically he said it was in order to get money to support his methamphetamine habit," said Leslie Earhart, public information officer for the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office.

Bowman is charged with aggravated burglary and theft over $500.

His bond has not yet been set.
