Local THP troopers make 17 DUI arrests over Thanksgiving holiday
Tennessee Highway Patrol was out in full force over Thanksgiving weekend, and after crunching the numbers, troopers told News 5 the crackdown was a success.
We learned in Washington County, Tennessee, one of 16 counties statewide involved in a 'no refusal' DUI effort,17 people were arrested for DUI's, though we learned troopers did not have to request any search warrants for blood samples.
Across the four-day holiday weekend, troopers held 15 road stops, with 625 citations issued across the weekend, and DUI's weren't the only offenses they found.
"We had one wanted felon, [a] person wanted out of Florida. We had a stolen vehicle recovered, numerous drug charges, [found] a loaded syringe, child restraints, we just had a lot of safety violations we found," said Sgt. Tommy Boone.
Troopers told us they believe these road stops made our local holiday travel safer.
