JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -

The polls were open Thursday in the state of Tennessee for those hoping to cast a ballot in the Republican primary.

It's decision 2012, and several races across the region had voters making decisions that could impact not just their representation, but also their wallet.

In Washington County, Tennessee, for example, voters decided if they want to increase local sales tax.

Even still, election officials told News 5 the polls in Johnson City and Washington County were slow on Thursday when we checked during the afternoon. Officials said more than 4,000 people chose to vote early, but that's about the same as 2008's primary.
