Kingsport murder trial updates
News 5's Meredith Machen is in the courtroom for the Massey murder trial and is sending back updates on the case.
11:24 a.m.: Jury has the case and is starting deliberations.
11:17 a.m.: Judge is now removing three alternate jurors from the case. Closing arguments are finished.
10:13 a.m.: Defense tells jurors the state's witnesses were accomplices to the murders and they were attempting to put the blame on Massey during the trial. The defense also claims there is no physical evidence linking defendant to the murders.
9:44 a.m.: State finishes closing arguments. Staubus told jury he believes the state has proved Massey was in Kingsport the night of the murder and was involved. The defense is now beginning their closing remarks (pictured above).
9:10 a.m.: State is starting to give the jury their closing arguments. Jury is reminded these statements are not evidence. DA Barry Staubus speaking on behalf of the prosecution (pictured above).
