BRISTOL, Va. -

A family in Bristol, Virginia is without a home after their house goes up in flames.

It happened on Lewis Street around 6:30 Wednesday night. We're told three people live in the home, but no one was home at the time of the fire.

We spoke to Fire Chief Bolling on the scene, who says crews arrived just in time. "Upon arrival, fire was emitting from the front of the structure, the guys made an entry and knock it down. Given a few more minutes the house would've probably still been on fire," says Fire Chief J.C. Bolling.

The Red Cross is assisting the family.

The cause of that fire is under investigation.
