WASHINGTON COUNTY, Tenn. -

Earth day is Monday, but a local museum celebrated Saturday.

The Natural History Museum at the Gray Fossil Site held some earth day celebrations.

Visitors of the museum enjoyed lectures, learning about different rocks and even did some fossil paintings.

The celebration also raised money for the museum. We’ve learned the money will keep education programs up and running.

"What we’re doing today is a fundraiser for the museum and that will go toward education programming for buying supplies for the school groups that come in and use them and hiring temporary staff to help us with our Paleo-Camp that we do here in the summer," says Dr. Blaine Schubert, Director Center of Excellence in Paleontology.

We’ve learned the Gray Fossil Site has started to stream monthly lectures online.
