JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -

After year's of waiting, the doors at Johnson City's new recreational center are finally open.

The parking lot was packed Saturday and people were busy touring the new facility, including workout rooms and a swimming pool.

News 5 caught up with one resident who is excited to try new activities and hopes the community center serves as an inspiration. "I think it's going to be a role model for a vision for other community centers and senior centers. It combines the seniors with all ages," said Marcia Fagelson.

We've learned all Parks and Recreation fees will remain the same at the new building. But the city is also offering yearly passes to the center as a cheaper option for those who plan to use it often.
