KINGSPORT, Tenn. -

People came out for FunFest Friday and along with them came the clouds. Fortunately, it didn't keeping anyone from coming.

FunFest had a great kick-off day with the sun shining and kids smiling everywhere you turn, but with the chance of rain trailing in there has to be a Plan B.

"We have our umbrellas in the car with the seats. We hope that will help," says Paula Boggs.

Some people are working to make sure that they are prepared this FunFest week just in case the skies decide to open up. But FunFest chairman Lori Payne says they have a backup plan. "Especially at the concerts, we do have evacuation plans for that. We do take them into the dome or get to your cars," she explained.

Thankfully, even with the threat of rain it has not kept anyone from participating. "As you could see in the parade, there were 200 participants and not one backed out," said Payne.

Payne encourages everyone to wait out the rain if it does happen. "If you’re at a concert and the rain starts up, Just go back to your car until it comes back up because they will resume the events,” she said.

FunFest will be going on through next Saturday, July 21.
