The Sullivan County Health Department is holding its tenth annual free health check-ups this week.
You can find blood pressure checks, a cholesterol test, and screenings for glucose, nutrition, sexually transmitted infections and cancer.
Health department officials say over the years, the screenings have led to the diagnoses of a variety of medical conditions.
Becca Wright with the Sullivan County Health Department says, "So many people don't have health insurance, or if they do have health insurance, they have high deductibles. They are not able to have their health screenings done. This gives them an opportunity to come in and have those done free of charge. All of our services are donated by community providers."
There are separate days for men and women; today, it was the women's turn. On Tuesday, men can drop by the Sullivan County Health Department between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to get checked out. On Wednesday, women can go by the Sullivan County Health Department's office in Kingsport on Sullivan Street between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. The clinic for men in Kingsport will take place on Thursday.
