ERWIN, Tenn. -

The second trial for former Unicoi County Sheriff Kent Harris begins today.

The case was first presented to a jury in August but ended in a mis-trial.

Jury selection begins at 9am Monday morning.

The former Sheriff was indicted on more than a dozen felony charges last year but this trial only focuses on theft charges. The remaining charges will be handled in future trials.

Back in August, the jury told the judge it could not reach a verdict after deliberating for more than a day.

Harris resigned from office last year while recovering from a fall from the roof of the jail.
