The Tennessee Supreme Court is now accepting applications for the the First Judicial District after the retirement of judge Lynn Brown.

We're told Judge Brown's retirement is effective as of March 31.

The Judicial Nominating Commission is looking for an attorney to fill that position. Qualified applicants must complete the application by Friday, January 11.

The First Judicial District serves Carter, Johnson, Unicoi and Washington Counties. An interested applicant must be a licensed attorney who is at least 30 years of age, a resident of the state for five years, and a resident of the First Judicial District for at least one year.

Applicants must complete the designated application, which is available at www.tncourts.gov, and submit it to the administrative office of the courts by Friday, January 11, 2013 at noon.
