With temperatures expected to drop over the next couple of days, homeless families across the region will need a warm place to stay.
Salvation Army in Johnson City, Tennessee offers a place for families to get a fresh start and seek shelter from the storm.
One family (that requested to remain anonymous) staying at the shelter said they never thought they would have to turn to the program.
But after an injury at work, 'Kim,' a mother of one, turned to Salvation Army for help. "I used to drive by thinking 'How could that happen to somebody? But it can before you even know it, it's there on top of you."
The Salvation Army reports they have seen more people coming this year for shelter.
