East Tenn. leads state in meth labs
East Tennessee is being held as one of the top regions in the state for meth. And, according to a new study, the number of meth labs continues to increase across the state.
The Tennessee Comptroller's Office report released this month shows the increase comes even after a law restricting the amount of ephedrine-based medications a person can purchase.
Tennessee consistently ranks in the top four states for the highest number of meth labs found by law enforcement.
State and federal statistics say last year alone, over 1,800 labs were documented.
State numbers show Carter County with the most meth lab busts in 2012. Authorities in that county reported. 50.
