ETSU basketball players dismissed
Sheldon Cooley and Marcus Debose face drug charges
The basketball careers of two East Tennessee State University basketball players has officially come to an end.
Seniors Sheldon Cooley and Marcus Dubose were charged November 9 after police found what they believed to be a quarter of a pound of marijuana buds in a package delivered to Dubose through the mail. Click here for more information on that story.
Wednesday, head ETSU men's basketball coach Murray Bartow said the two are now officially dismissed from the team.
According to the Associated Press, Dubose and Cooley were on indefinite suspension until Bartow released this statement yesterday:
"After further study and thinking it through, we made a decision to dismiss them. Any coach, you're tolerant to a point. When guys cross the line, or it's a repeat situation, trust is broken and they can't represent your program any longer. That's where we ended up with Sheldon and Marcus."
