ECU customers warned about phone scam
An area bank is warning customers about a scam.
A representative of Eastman Credit Union says some of its members have reported receiving text messages requesting card information.
Eastman wants to stress that those messages, stating that the recipient's debit card has been deactivated, are not from them.
If you did call the number and provide your card information please contact ECU immediately by calling 1-800-999-2328 and choose option 7 and then option 1 to have your card blocked. Please notify ECU during business hours to order a new card.
If you receive such a text message, do not call the number or reply to the text. Never give out your personal information in response to an email or text. If ECU suspects fraud on your account, we will only ask that you confirm the last 4 digits of the card number. ECU will never ask for the security code from the reverse side of your card.
If you know anyone receiving this text message, please convey this information.
Remember, if you feel that you are a victim of any type of fraud, please contact an ECU Representative at (423) 229-8200 or (800) 999-2328.
