Work is underway in Russell County on a memorial for veterans.
Crews were busy laying bricks Friday morning for a Veterans Memorial Park.
It's actually a several-phase project relying on community donations.
News 5 learned the county is doing all it can to save taxpayers as much money as possible. "We're doing things that I think are pretty creative, for example we're taking folks from the Vocational-Tech School to go down and work on that," said Jon Bowerbank, Chairman for the Virginia Board of Supervisors.
News 5 learned when work is complete the Memorial park will be used for special ceremonies and events for veterans of all foreign wars.
