WASHINGTON COUNTY, Tenn. -

It's still a work in progress on a new home for county archives in Washington County, Tennessee.

During the last few weeks crews have been able to move three tractor trailer loads of historic records.

Work still needs to be done remodeling the historic Courthouse and installing new shelves, where archives will be housed.

We've learned this move will be a big help. "It's going to allow those records to be better preserved, allow the public to have better access to them because right now they're not that easy to find. They're scattered in a lot of different places," said County Archivist Ned Irwin.

There's still one more tractor trailer to unload and officials hope to be done organizing by May.
