Deputies in Russell County, Virginia say a car crashed into a power pole after 4:30 Sunday afternoon.
More than 6,000 AEP customers are without power. That's more than 40 percent of all AEP customers in Russell County.
Investigators believe a woman suffered a medical condition while driving on Business Route 19 causing her car to go over a hill hitting the power pole.
The driver is expected to be ok.
Crews are working to restore power.
