JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -

Commissioners in Johnson City are considering a proposal for a new 176 unit apartment complex to be built at the Mullican property.

The new apartments would be geared to East Tennessee State University students, but city leaders are still in the early stages.

"The next step is the rezoning process which will continue to second reading on November 15th. City commission will hear that and they will also review the concept plan," said Angie Carrier, Johnson City Development Services Director.

News 5 learned the building will need to be torn down before construction begins.
