Child fatality numbers down
According to a recent study by the State Child Fatality Review team, the overall death rate for children in Tenn. has dropped.
The study shows numbers have declined by 20% between 2007 and 2011.
Of the 13 categories measured Tenn. was identified as improving in 10 and stable in the remaining three.
The total reduction equals 189 lives the same amount as about nine kindergarten classrooms of children.
Of the reported deaths 84 % died as a result of not sleeping in a crib or bassinette.
