Car donor questioned on day two of former sheriff's trial

The defense is questioning Lynn Cobalt on day two of former Unicoi County sheriff Kent Harris' trial.

Cobalt and her husband Tom donated cars to the Unicoi County Sheriff's Office. On the stand this morning, she told the court Harris wrote her checks for those cars and she wasn't sure why.

She went on to say he told her that was how he had to do business. She said he asked her to cash those checks and bring the titles to the parking lot of the sheriff's department.

Cobalt stated she did that and watched Harris roll up the $4,500 and put it in his pocket.

She said she assumed he deposited it into the department's account.
